bc637PCI-V2 (GPS) Timing Module
Microchip’s bc637PCI-V2 timing module provides precise time and frequency to the host computer and peripheral data acquisition systems
The Microchip bc637PCI‑V2 GPS‑referenced timing module provides high‑precision time and frequency to the host computer and peripheral data acquisition systems.
Precise time is obtained from the GPS satellite system or via time code signals. GPS synchronization ensures 170 nanoseconds RMS accuracy to UTC (USNO), making the bc637PCI‑V2 an excellent master clock for accurately synchronizing multiple computers to UTC.
Time code generation and translation functions
The module offers a wide range of time code generation and translation functions.
- The generator outputs IRIG A, B, G, E, IEEE 1344, NASA 36, XR3, or 2137 in both AM (amplitude modulated) and DCLS (DC level shifted) formats.
- The translator reads these formats and can be used to discipline the 10 MHz oscillator using any of the supported AM or DCLS codes.
Advanced timing capabilities
The module incorporates a state‑of‑the‑art DDS synthesizer capable of generating frequencies from 0.0000001 PPS up to 100 MPPS.
The Event Time Capture function records the time instant of an external event.
A key feature of the bc637PCI‑V2 is its ability to generate PCI bus interrupts at programmable frequencies, useful for synchronizing applications on the host computer or flagging specific events.
Simplified integration
Module integration is facilitated by optional Windows and Linux drivers, enabling immediate configuration and use in existing systems.
